I got the idea for this from somewhere, but I don't remember where. My memory for pictures is great. My memory for sites... not so great. ^^;
Anyway, I just kind of scribbled this one. It's not as crappy as most of my scraps, so I'm making it a deviation. Perhaps I shall finish it, perhaps I shall not.

Hmmm...pretty good. I think that so far it's a great start to something that can be quite incredible. The gesture is a good subtle stance with nice balance and flow to the model. Yet what I think this piece could use is some more details within the holding lines. You successfully create some good outlines for a well-done character, but she doesn't have all the necessary details to really convey a "gothic" sense.

If she had some more folding lines in her clothes, and maybe a bit more texture in the clothes and wings, it would really benefit the look and realism of the figure.

I also think that if it had some harder, darker shadows, it would really help the depth and volume of the character.

It has good flow and gesture, though. It's very appealing, and I think that if it was refined a fair bit on the shadows and the texturing, it would turn into a wonderful composition.

Nice. Draw it bigger so you can get more detail, shade it harder like vest says. If you don't, get a set of pencils ranging from super light to super dark, like my 2H-8B; I find it helps me get around my mentality of only pushing so hard with the pencil. By working with a darker pencil, I don't have to constantly remind myself to push really hard to get a dark tone with, say, a HB.

I agree with vest. Follow through with this. It has potential to be something fabulous. Some transparent wings, a bit of pixie dust, and a magical background, and you're in business!
